kerry/mccain ticket, transparent manipulation anyone?

alright, it seems that once and for all the media is coming to accept that a Kerry/McCain ticket WILL NEVER HAPPEN, despite their weird wet dreams and breathless buzz about it. I’m sorry, but why have so few people figured this out!? Kerry’s people just keep saying it, knowing full well that there’s no chance (this article says McCain made it clear that it was impossible a few weeks ago) so that there can be more speculation, and Kerry can be associated w/ McCain in the minds of swing voters and independents (who love McCain) all over the country.

Slate is the only place in the media I’ve seen this strategy actually noted but slate was also a part of the political gossip class that generated this buzz in the first place and was therefore a total tool of the democratic establishment.

It’s not that I mind the advantages that Kerry is reeping, I’m happy about it. But I’m depressed about the way in which the media establishment has been so stupid and easily manipulated. The New York Times wrote an entire front page story about it and never mentioned this angle (to the best of my memory, I don’t want to pay for their archives). The Times, and everyone else, should be smarter than that.

Just goes to show, you can’t trust everything you read.
