FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TPM MEDIA DRAWS RECORD TRAFFIC IN SEPTEMBER:
26.7 MILLION PAGEVIEWS ACROSS NETWORK OF BLOGSALSO #1 ON YOUTUBE, NEW COMMUNITY PLATFORM
New York, NY, Oct 23, 2008 – Award-winning news and politics website Talking Points Memo announced today that it set new traffic records in September 2008. TPM drew 26.7 million page views and 2.6 million unique readers in September to its network of news aggregation, election and investigative reporting blogs.
It also set a new record for its video content, recording 16.3 million full YouTube video views in September. TPM’s video channel TPMtv was consistently the most popular channel on YouTube.
Building on this success, TPM recently launched myTPM, an opt-in blogging and social networking platform. Members who sign up can keep a blog at the site, comment across the network and recommend content. They can also choose to “follow” other community members and be alerted when those they follow post, comment, or recommend. MyTPM already has thousands of members who generate hundreds of blog posts and tens of thousands of comments and recommendations every day.
“Our audience has always been a critical part of our reporting model,” TPM Editor and Publisher Josh Marshall said. “As we grow, we’re constantly looking for ways to maintain and deepen our relationship with our readers.”
With the help of new traffic from these community tools and growing interest in the coming election, TPM is on track to exceed 30 million page views in October.
About TPM Media:

Not really surprising that this guy looks like he’ll be the first candidate elected by we kids:
One thing occurred to me: The Right’s attacks on Obama over the last year have been like a tour of the Greatest Hits of the Culture War in roughly reverse chronological order. First there were the rumors of him being a secret radical Muslim, which is, of course, the most au courant culture-war wedge. Then, when that didn’t work they went with the Hollywood celebrity angle, which has a long pedigree, but also figured prominently in 2004. After that they went with the “sex education”angle, which, in the 1980s and 1990s particularly was a hardy perennial (even in liberal New York where I grew up). Next they turned the clock back even further to the 1960s, in belaboring the Bill Ayers/Weather Underground connection, and now they’re all the way back in the Cold War with accusations of socialism! I’m trying to predict what’s next. Obama supports the free coinage of silver? Obama was soft on Spanish atrocities in Cuba? Obama is a secret Jacobin sympathizer?
If nothing else, I think this election is useful for high school history teachers who want to give their students a condensed, synthesized look at the right-wing attack politics.
